2010-2011 RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Hunters must be licensed to hunt in the province of Ontario.

2. Animals must be harvested in the following counties: BRUCE, GREY, HURON, PERTH, WELLINGTON, MIDDLESEX, LAMBTON.

3. Entry fee will be $25.00 and the eligible participant must be registered in the contest before the animal(s) is/are harvested to be eligible. One winning entry per licensed hunter.

4. Hunters must be registered by MIDNIGHT SEPT. 30, 2010 - no Exceptions.

5. Animals may be taken by any style of weapon, be it archery or firearm.  As long as they are harvested within that weapons specified season and under Ontario hunting regulations.

6. A person may register personally or may register other persons. A person is considered registered on the date the entry registration is received by Ontario Big Buck contests.

7. All entries must be harvested in accordance with rules/regulations of Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources.

8. Each participant must enter his/her own animal(s) and a picture of the animal with the antlers and tag attached on or before January 15/2011.

9. An official FROW measurer must score all animals.

10. Boone & Crockett scoring guidelines will be used to determine scores except where otherwise noted.

11. Winners will be based on net score, as recognized by the Boone & Crockett measuring system, except where otherwise noted.

12. If a hunter should qualify to win an award in more than one category (typical/non-typical), the hunter may request which category his or her entry may compete in. If an animal is initially entered into a given category the committee may choose to move the entry to a different category at any time during the contest. An entry can be a winner in only one category; except in cases of winning category 1 and 2.

13. This contest is intended for hunting under "FAIR CHASE" circumstances and for native, wild, free-ranging deer only. "Tame", “Domesticated" or "Pet" animals may not be entered in this contest even if the animal is free ranging. Tame, domesticated, or pet refers to a deer having been associated with humans to such a degree that they have lost their natural fear and are not wild. Whether an animal is tame, domesticated or a pet will be determined by Ontario Big Buck Contests.

14. First place and runner-up winners in all categories are required to display their trophies at the Brodhagen Bear Bucks and Bulls day in Brodhagen March 2011, were they will receive their cash and trophies. If the winners cannot attend we will make further arrangements to get the prizes to them.

15. The Ontario Big Buck Contest rules committee reserves the right to re-score any entry. The rules committee has the authority to reverse the scoring decision.

16. No trapped animals can be entered into the Ontario Big Buck Contest.

17. All photographs and official score cards become property of the Ontario Big Buck Contest.

18. Any tax obligation incurred as a result of any prize awarded herein will be the responsibility of the recipient of that prize.

19. Only FROW measurer’s are allowed to be with the antlers/skull during the time that entries are being scored.

20. All decisions of the Rules Committee of the Ontario Big Buck Contests are final.

21. The winner will incur all shipping costs if his/her awards are shipped.

22. All winners have 90 days from the Brodhagen Bears, Bulls and Bucks day to either pick up or request the shipping of their prizes at their own expense.

23. All entries must be harvested in 2010.

TIE- BREAKER RULES

In case of a tie, the following measurements will be used accordingly until a tie is broken: Best overall score, total length of both main beams, widest spread, most points, and longest combined brow tines.
